You can also see the Nauset Beacon while in the area. The Nauset Beacon is a symbol for Cape Pod Potato Chips and is one of the Cape's most recognizable landmarks.

The Nauset Beacon was constructed at the petition of 21 occupants of Eastham in 1836. Many, many vas had been lost off the shores of Eastham. It was evident to the people in this country that a beacon fire was required to safely convey ships into harbor. United States Congress approved the petition and determined three wooden beacons would be constructed at the land site to separate the location from the single visible light North of Truro and the dual visible lights south at Chatham. As a result, the beacons known as the Three Sisters were constructed.

The Three Sisters survived for over 70 years. By 1911 the towers were perched perilously fold to the border of the bluff. Weather and eroding necessitated a demand to travel the lighthouses. The towers were put back from the bluff's edge. The Agency of Lighthouses then determined it was necessary to maintain only one of the three ses in commission. The centre beacon tower flashed three modern times every 10 secs as a testimonial to her ses who stood silent. After about seven years, the two dead ses were purchased by the E. E. Cummings household who retired them to their summertime bungalow known as The Towers.

For about 12 more than old age the remaining sister illuminated the shores of Eastham, however age had weakened her. It was sold and integrated into a private residence.

The new Nauset Beacon stood guard over the Eastham shores while the National Rosa Parks Service reunited the former ses of Nauset. They purchased all three towers from the private proprietors and in 1975 united them, in their original configuration, on a land site off Cable Road.

In three years, after The Perfective Storm in 1991, over 30 feet of bluff was destroyed by the sea. The Seashore Guard wanted to decommission the lighthouse; however, 100s of letters of protestation poured into the Hub Of The Universe Seashore Guard central office and the Nauset Light Preservation Society took over.

The Seashore Guard gave the Society a 5 twelvemonth rental in 1995 and after a batch of debate, a new land site out of ocean's range was chosen. Workers endured frigid temperatures, biting wind and snowfall to travel the tower to its new home. The beacon was very carefully hauled by heavy-duty dollies hitched to a truck, inch by inch over 336 feet to the new site.

The Nauset Light was renovated and painted and today stays a Cape Pod Landmark. Thanks to the dedication of the community and the Nauset Light Preservation Society, you can see the Nauset Light May through October on free tours. Donations are appreciated and accepted.
